AND: is used to connect sentences or expressions
ex. It's cold and I want to go home.
BUT: is used to set an expression or sentence against another.
ex. I like him but I don't like her.
ALTHOUGH : is used to set an exprssion or a sentence against another, (formal)
ex. Although I live in Bristol, I work in London.
BEFORE, THEN, AFTER THAT: are used to tell the order of some events.
ex. Before we went to the cinema, then to the pub, after that we went home.
SO / THEREFORE: are used to connect a situation with a result.
ex. I'm tired so I'm going to bed.
BECAUSE: is used to refer to the reasons for doing something.
ex. Daddy isn't going to work today because he's got a flu.
AT THE BEGINNING OF / AT THE END OF: are used when something happens (begins or ends).
ex. I'm flying to France at the end of the month.
AT FIRST / IN THE END: are used when we describe the final result of a situation.
ex. At first we didn't go on very well, but in the end we become good friends.
